I had a little heater fan from DeLonghi (DFH132), and it was fine but a little weak. I tried out a few heater fans from Honeywell (HFH5555 [worked, but blew a fuse] and HEH8001-U [worked but more fan than heater]) but ended up returning them.

This little heater puts out a good bit of heat. It's sitting behind me right now, in the same spot the heater fan used to occupy, and it puts out much more heat. It's also about twice as loud, but that doesn't bother me. The grille on the front gets hot, but I haven't left my hand on it long enough to see if it will burn me. I can make only so many sacrifices for Amazon reviews...

Quite happy with this item.
We bought 20 of these...

We are an HVAC contractor in Northern Virginia. We stock up on these every year to loan to customers without heat because they are safe and reliable. We have been very satisifed with the performance.
Lots of heat for a little cash

My wife and I bought 2 of these to give our utility budget a break this winter.

This heater puts out alot of heat. The On/Off/Heat Settings switch, along with the Thermostat switch, feel very solid for a ceramic heater this inexpensive. It has a handle so it's easily transportable. Power light goes off when the unit is turned off (unlike others in this price range). Can be turned off (Some other similarly priced heaters need to have you pull the plug for the heater to go off). If it gets too hot, it will shut itself off (Safety feature). It's not whisper quiet but it is certainly not overly loud, as some others have complained. It also has an anti-freeze setting, if that is why you need it.

For the money, I can't see how you can get a better deal on a ceramic heater. I checked out all the similarly priced ceramic heaters here on Amazon, and quite frankly the combination of features, efficient ceramic heating element, solid design and inexpensive price make this a "no-brainer" as far as inexpensive ceramic heaters go. Get 2 and give the gift of ceramic heating efficiency this Christmas. OOPS, politically incorrect. TOO BAD!!!
Small, effective, inexpensive and energy efficient

I have a fairly small bedroom (8' x 14') in the city in a 2 bedroom apartment. My roommate and I decided to get heaters for our bedrooms for this winter to try to save some money on our gas bill. At first I was suspicious about this small heater's ability to heat my room. My room feels really toasty right now. I am thankful that I gave this a shot. Although I havent received my electric bill yet to compare to our gas bills, I am almost for certain that we saved a bunch of money.

The cool thing about this unit is that there is one knob that controls 2 heat power settings (hi and low) and 1 cool setting. the other knob has the ability to control the strength of heat (cool to hot). I tried the cool setting, it's not as powerful as an AC, but it cools better than a fan.
Very worth the price

I was going through reviews and the complainer who said it was too noisy is quite pathetic, relative to street noise and other noises outside living in a soundproof underground basement - like this other reviewer, is actually offset by the neglible hum this unit makes. I find it particular useful when you have a roommmate who likes to watch tv to 2am, this unit actually is a godsend. So this keeps me warm and helps me sleep. 5 Stars!!!!
Great little heater

I bought this heater for my bedroom and it's working out quite nicely. It puts out a nice amount of heat and warms my room up quick.
I like that its so small and can be placed where I need it. I can set the dial where I need it and it turns on and off to warm as I need.
The fan makes about as much noise a window type room air conditioner, so it isn't very bad.
I'm very satisfied with this little heater and the price was right too.
Terrific little heater!

I bought this for a large office that's always freezing. This heater warms up the room quickly and keeps me toasty while it's sitting on my desk four feet away from me. It's light weight, chock full of safety features and exceedingly simple to operate. After comparing reviews on various units here, I saved twenty bucks and bought mine for under $30 w/immediate shipping elsewhere so shop around for the best deal.
Great little heater...fast shipment!

DeLonghi DCH1030 Ceramic Heater Product arrived early.I ordered it Oct.5th and it arrived the 7th.It was packed well and obviously a new item.I read the directions even though it seemed easy to operate I always look at directions. Now I knew how to operate it properly. This heater does have an on off switch. It works just wonderful for small areas and taking off the chill quickly.I am using it now and the room is very warm.If it makes alot of noise I am not noticing it.It is just background hum to me.If nothing else it will be a good reminder to turn it off when I go downstairs.I am happy with this little heater.
Keeps Me Warm in the Dorm

Reviewer: RBoy,
It's been a COLD winter, but this heater sure has helped. Very powerful, it easily heats up my dorm room and keeps me comfortable. Quiet and portable enough to carry in a backpack to other rooms. I like that it will also double as a ventilating fan in the summer.
Inexpensive and Effective

This little heater was inexpensive, and it's done wonders to make my freezing cold room with tall ceilings and large, uninsulated windows much warmer. The back and bottom never heat up, so it seems pretty safe, too. I don't leave it on overnight usually, just on general principles, but there probably isn't any reason why you couldn't.
Nice, inexpensive heater

Nice quiet heater that does what I bought it for: keeping me warm in my cold office cubicle.
Outstanding purchase

Reviewer: Steve (long time geek),
The heater arrived quickly, and it does a great job of warming our 14' x 11' room that's not part of the central heating. That lets us use the room immediately in the morning, and open the door to that room and leave it open after a few minutes without adding load to the central heat. We were considering their next lower model, but the reviews here convinced us to move up a step. Am I glad we did! The noise is noticable but acceptable, and the fan can be turned down pretty quickly.
Cute and Effective

I have forced air gas heat and bought this heater as a supplement/substitute to use less overpriced natural gas. I don't use the thermostat feature to control temp, so can't comment on it, and never use it unattended. On the high setting, it gets hot very quickly. I usually use it on the low setting to heat my 10X10 home office. With the door closed, it warms the room quickly and keeps it very toasty. The outside plastic housing never gets hot. I don't find the fan noise objectionable and appreciate having it as opposed to relying on convection. I've not gotten my first electric bill yet after starting to use it, but at 12 cents per kwh, it should cost less than 15 cents per hour on the low setting and under 20 cents on even the high setting. It's a matter of personal taste, but I think it's a cute little heater.
fabulous small heater

I live in the country in a trailer and have a 8x8foot building containing my water reserve tank and softener. It's insulated but needs some heat in the winter. The previous one had high and low but it still kept it at 60%. It was wasting electricity. This has an additional very low setting to keep pipes from freezing. I expect to see a lower electric bill.
