| We've been using this panel heater in our 16' x 20' bedroom for 6 weeks to save big $$ by turning the central heating way down at night. It works very well to heat the room throughout the night and is virtually silent. There are some tiny expansion noises when it is heating up, but it has never made any noise to waken us during the night and we are light sleepers. Just need to turn it on about a half-hour before bed to warm up the room. The room stays pleasantly warm even on the 750W low power setting with the built-in temp control turned less than half-way to max. It heats without moving air around (no fans) so it takes a while to distribute the heat. Folks who want instant blowing heat may not like it but they will have to tolerate fan noise. For us, silence is golden and this heater provides silent heat which is fully adjustable. It is also light weight and moves easily by either carrying (has built-in handle) or rolling on the supplied casters. |
Works well and, unlike most, it ain't ugly.

One of the most aesthetically pleasing space heaters I've ever seen. it can be sat on rollers or mounted to wall. It can keep my uninsulated 4,000 cubic foot (20' wide x 20' long x 10' high) garage at a tolerable temperature when it's 15 degrees outside.
Tip #1: As with any new space heater, it will emit an unpleasant chemical smell when first used. When it's new, I suggest you set it on high and place it in the garage or outside for 3 to 4 hours before using it inside.
Tip #2: Hot cords/plugs are usually the result of using the wrong gauge of wire in your extension cord or electrical outlets. Use at least a 14-gauge (I'd probably go with a 12-gauge) extension cord and plug it into an outlet that is wired (with 14, preferable 12, gauge wire) to at least a 15-amp circuit breaker. This will be the only thing you'll want running on that circuit breaker. If you don't do that, then don't complain about hot plugs or wires. It's not the heater's fault. It's a basic principle of electricity.
Tip #3: No, it's not going to produce as many BTUs as a propane or kerosene heater will. Electrical heaters are quite capable of producing equal BTUs, without producing carbon monoxide like gas heaters do, but they also have to make it safe to plug into a wall outlet and that means about 1500 watts max. If you have a large room you've been heating with a gas heater and you want to replace it with an electric heater, then you're going to have to get a 240v 30 Amp (or better) heater and probably have an electrician wire it in for you on a dedicated dual-pole circuit. This is a space heater, not a furnace. It's for making warm rooms warmer. Don't disparage this heater because you got the wrong tool for the job. Do your research.
Tip #4: If you want to remove the stickers from the face of the unit and the adhesive is being stubborn, then try heat. If that doesn't work, then go to an auto parts store. They sell several different adhesive removers that are safe for painted surfaces. |
Great For Small Unheated Room

| I use this heater in an unheated screen porch where my dogs sleep. Storm windows keep the wind out, but It was still too cold for the dogs. This heater is great if you're concerned about "dog proofing". It was mounted to the wall and I covered the cord with wooden trim along the baseboard, preventing cord chewing. It heats the 12' by 15' room to a nice 70 degrees, even though the walls are not insulated. Oklahoma has fairly mild winters, rarely getting below 20 degrees, or so. I can't say how the heater would work in this application if you have harsh winters, but for keeping an unheated, small room warm in a mild climate, its great. |
Even heat, controllable temperature

We got to use this in an old home we had to stay in overnight where the gas furnace was out, and the house hadn't been used for months. The temperature inside the house was about 40 degrees, and we got there about 9PM. We set the heater up in the bedroom and shut off the rest of the house, and within two hours, it had the air temperature pretty comfortable and kept it that way overnight. In addition, its radiative heat is about like standing in front of a fireplace at a distance -- it really feels good. It smelled a little for the first two hours (as it says it will), but the smell was not bad and did not make us cough or our eyes water. Since then, it has been perfect. The heater is light weight and easily portable.
In fact, it's been so good that we moved it into our bathroom at home (on the wheels), and it makes us toasty warm getting out of the shower on cool winter morning. The controls are easy to use and see. It's another fine consumer product from deLonghi.
If you had a sunroom or enclosed porch where you wintered plants, the "frostproof" setting would probably be great for keeping the plants from getting to cold. |
Quiet, toasty warmth and lightweight!

| I was amazed at how quiet and quickly it heats a room. I orginally purchased this for my bathroom since it is rated for that use. It was larger than I could accomodate to wall hang, so I put the wheels on and used it in my bedoom in order to lower the central heat at night. I cannot say enough about how wonderful it and my cats lay next to it without my fear of them getting burned. I do agree a temperature setting would be nice, but once you are at a comfortable level, simply adjust the dial and it keeps the room temperature stable. BTW it has a one year warranty, NOT 90 days.I love it! |
Great Heater

| Having retired a Pelonis Oil filled radiator heater this past spring due to bad switches, we considered a micathermic heater from Soleus. It had mixed reviews. We decided to try this DeLonghi and after this first week we are more than satisfied with it. The heat begins immediately. We keep it on a lower setting (1 '750w'/ 2 or 3 thermostat) and our small living room is more comfortable than we imagined possible. It is very light and rolls easily. The only assembly is one screw in each floor roller mechanism. The only issue was that the first heating created some outgassing from the materials. It has no odor at all now. |
Excellent supplemental heat

This heater is by far the best "supplemental" room heater we have owned. We've had them all from radiating floor models, an expensive tower fan model and for the past several years an oil-filled radiator which we would have kept had the internal wiring not fried (not a good feeling when your bedroom heater goes up in smoke).
I emphasize "suplemental" as you may be disappointed if you expect to heat a room with this heater alone, but we love it in our bedroom. It's very quiet, generates heat almost instantly and it's stylish. We mounted ours on the wall and it's very unobtrusive, it just doesn't get in the way like so many others tend to do. Highly recommended, and if you shop right you can find it with a 2 year extended warranty for about $10.00.
Oh, and for those even slightly worried about that "impossible to remove label," I had no problems. Here's the trick for removing gummy residue from labels. Spray a little WD-40 on a paper towel and wipe, repeat if needed. Then spray some kitchen cleaner on another paper towel, wipe off the oily residue and you're done! |
Quiet, hot, safe- NOT anymore!

This can be wall mounted, it heats up very quickly, and it's 99.5% silent. The heat it generates is soft and cozy. The cats like it, too. I do not regret buying this and will probably get another soon. It raised the temp in a 14x22 room over 5 degrees in about an hour, from around 62 degrees to 68.
The sound is so minimal it will not disturb you unless you are used to living in the backwoods! The other reviewer above is nitpicking. It makes a little knocking sound when it starts as the panel is heating up. It's not going to wake you or the baby or the dog or the neighbors or your roommate. It's so quiet I forget that it's on and wish it had a timer to shut off automatically. A crackling fire makes a lot more noise!
Addendum: 08/08 worked fine and quietly all last season as well as year prior. Cuts the chill.
2nd Addendum 11/08: A unit I purchased for someone else about 1.5 years ago, and which received light use, started to short out. The panel threw sparks and appeared to be arching. A call to the customer service center said it was normal..... NORMAL?!?! It was a serious fire hazard and the unit was tossed. Not only a bummer, but customer service was useless in this situation and could have been potentially fatal if we listened to the excuses. If you feel your unit is not working properly.... don't use it. 1 star for poor poor customer service.
3rd addendum: 04/09 Second unit purchased is malfunctioning like the first unit. If your unit is doing the same thing, please contact Delonghi and let them know as well as the U.S. consumer product safety commission. |

| We use this wonderful heater in our 24' X 10' sunroom which has 3 glass walls. We tried and returned serveral other heaters before finding this one meets all our requirements. The heater warms up quickly and enables us to keep the room comfortable even when the temperature outside is in the 20s. Have not yet experienced temperature in the teens or less, but I would bet it would still be comfortable. Best of all we have it connected to a timer which automatically goes on at night to keep the temperature above freezing so the numerous plants we have in the room do not freeze. |
Exactly What I Needed

I just recently received and started using the DeLonghi Mica Panel Radiator, and it has worked perfectly for me thus far. I was a little worried about some of the average and low reviews, but I have not been disappointed.
There are a couple of important things to mention when deciding whether or not this heater is for you:
Are you patient? This is not forced air heat, or directed heat. A small to moderate amount of heat radiates from the front of the heater, and the rest rises from the top. In an approx 200 sqft room, it took 1.5 to 2 hours for the heater to raise the temp from 55 degrees to 70 degrees (on the low setting). Also, are you insulated? If you have very poor insulation, you'll probably end up losing heat to the environment faster than you gain heat from the heater.
In the end, here's what I love about this radiator:
- It's lightweight
- It's small and very slim
- It heats my room |
Great silent heat!

| I bought this heater for a small drafty back bedroom in a 1912 building. So far it's fantastic. Heats up silently and immediately. I find the dial controls totally sufficient; when the room heats to your liking, you just turn the thermostat a bit and the heater holds that temp in the room. You do not need to be sitting next to it to get the benefits - after a little time the whole room will heat up. I especially like how lightweight and portable it is. It's also a slick look. The perfect solution to my drafty back bedroom issues. But I like it so much that I'm thinking I'll experiment with keeping my condo's whole temp lower than normal and turning this thing on in whatever room I occupy. |

I put the heater in the laundry room (250 square feet) and turned it on high. Although the temperature outside was in the 30s and there was no other source of heat in the room, it got warm enough that I had to open the door to let the heat go into the house. Ran it for 12 hours and then switched it to low. The room remained comfortably warm and the cats and dogs were all happy as clams. The slight odor dissipated in a couple of hours.
This is my fourth Delonghi heater but the first mica one. I am pleased.
Year later - I have now had this heater for a year and my father-in-law ran it every day, 12 hours a day, last winter. It still works great and I'm ordering a second one. Although I could get one that heats as well for less money, none are as silent or discrete as this one. |
Wonderful!

I received my heater and as instructed, plugged in in outside on the porch and set it to full for 2 hours to burn off the protective anti-corrosive coating. It did smell at first but the smell was gone after a couple hours, and I brought it inside. I have a very sensitive nose, and there was no smell. The heat is gentle and pleasant like the feeling of a warm sunbeam on a cool day. It is completely silent and reasonably good looking. The rollers were easy to install and it came with the mounting bracket and screws with anchors to mount on the wall, which we plan to do this weekend to save space. We're going to order 2 more for other rooms! The current heater is in our bedroom which is about 12' x 15', so we want one for the living room and office as well.
As someone else mentioned, an actual digital thermostat (instead of the dial which reads "1 - 6" would make this item ideal.
Update: We now have 3 of these heaters running, we have them set to "low power" (1) and around "3" on the temperature dial. We have our main gas furnace off and the heaters have been keeping our 500 square foot cottage very comfortable when the temps are around 34 F at night and 55 - 60 F during the day. My allergies are so much better! |
How to remove the lame sticker on an otherwise great product

| Many other people have already said how neat this product is. I'll second that. Fantastic! The sticker on the front that says 'Remove Before Use' that is near impossible to remove should be made of a different material, yes. However, rather than use solvents or razor blades to remove it, heat the sticker up with a hair dryer or other direct applied heat. Then, gently pull while still applying heat. (Your fingers will get toasty) Use a credit card as a wedge/scraper to help prevent any residue. Just gently push the edge of the card into the space between the sticker and the heater surface as you pull. It works perfectly. A totally clean heater surface!!! |

I needed an overnight substitute for my efficient but noisy fan disbursed
central heating system. I bought 2 of the HP 1500s and am delighted. They
are dead silent but quickly disburse enough thermostatically controlled heat in a bedroom or living room to maintain heat overnight without noise so I can sleep. They also look good. |
