Efficient, well made

You can spend $180 and buy a heater that provides more output, but as an all around appliance this is as good as I've seen for the following reasons:
1) The heat is sufficient to take the chill off an early morning living room where the outside temps are in the low 40's.
2) The fan noise at maximum is barely noticeable from a few feet away.
3) The unit is very well made of well formed heavy gauge sheet metal (steel) for everything accept the top, glass door and some internal parts. It looks like a small wood/coal stove or maybe even more like a pellet stove.
4) It's easily portable moving from room to room if needed (no bathrooms, or use outdoors).
5) The flame/burning coal effect is very realistic.... much more so than the more common log sets seen in competing units.
6) It looks like a "real" heating appliance rather than some piece of cosmetic junk that passes for "consumer goods" these days.
Obviously, I'm pleased with the unit. It doesn't replace a forced air unit, but for a portable heater it more than met my expectations. |

It is easy to move from one location to another and actually heats two ad
joining rooms in our home. |

| since i started using this heater last week, it has proven to be an excellent choice. it is quiet, easy to use, attractive and functional. it does not get hot on the top or sides or even the front glass door, even on the highest setting. the temperature gauge works great and helps to save energy. it heats up a large basement guest room well and even after switching the heater off and unplugging it before sleeping, i noticed that the room stays nice and cosy through the night. granted, it is may and not january but so far i am very happy that i chose this heater! |
GREAT ELECTRIC HEATER- BAD AMAZON CUSTOMER SERVICE
|
| Review Date: December 4, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Rose Garden, New England, USA |
I LOVE THIS HEATER-- but first, my gripe about Amazon. I've been a customer for years because Amazon gave the best customer service, including their price policy. Previously, if Amazon lowered
the price of an item within a short period of time of when you purchased it, they refunded you the
difference between the higher price you paid. NO LONGER SO ! Within less than 2 weeks of the
day I purchased this heater--even before it was delivered--Amazon lowered the price about $17.
They would NOT credit my account the difference--saying they changed this policy.I spoke with 2 supervisors to no avail. This heater was expensive even at the first sale I purchased it at-$185.
Then, they lowered it to a new sale price of about $168. As a buyer, it makes me feel like a fool for buying it immediately...it's a NEWLY ISSUED heater by DeLonghi. I tried
unsuccessfuly to tell Amazon that in a very bad economic climate this is sheer stupidity on
Amazon's part to not honor a buyer who buys an item immediately.Now--to the heater. I purchased
it because of the claim that it HEATS UP IMMEDIATELY-- and ,NOT because of the stove affect
or faux burning coals. I live in a rented, very poorly insulated 2 bedroom cottage in Connecticut with old, ineffective electric baseboard heat. Connecticut has one of the 3 highest electric rates in the country--over $300 a month to heat this cottage at only 58 degrees! Last year, I purchased
DeLonghi radiator type heater -- it was great and warmed a good part of this cottage--but takes
almost 2 hours to reach warmth. Since I am NOT using ANY baseboard heat and ONLY the DELONGHI,
I hoped this new DeLonghi stove heater WITH BLOWER REALLY WOULD be INSTANT. Happily, it DOES
HEAT UP IMMEDIATELY. The blower causes the heat to rise and spread out.I am even warmer with just
this one heater with blower than I was last year with the DeLonghi radiator heater without blower. As to cost, it's very economical even with Connecticut's staggering rates. I estimated it would
cost about $100 a month to use this heater 12 hours a day-- every day...and the first month's bill
was that.I'm saving over $200 a month by using only this and NOT the electric baseboard heat.MOST PEOPLE would find it costs MUCH LESS A MONTH because of LOWER ELECTRIC RATES.This use is for the living and kitchen area. This one heater doesn't completely reach the bedrooms
with the same comfort warmth, but I wasn't concerned about that as I use warm comforters for sleep. Most people would use this heater in addition to heat and would find the warmth even better than my own experience.I AM VERY PLEASED with the HEAT OUTPUT and am DELIGHTED I PURCHASED IT. While I didn't buy it for the stove affect, I like it very much. |
So good, I now have 4 of these

I bought one of these to heat my NH house in the early Spring to late Fall, was quite please and ordered 3 more. I turned two of them on this weekend (overnight temps in high 30's/low 40's...daytime temps in mid to low 60's). I had 2 running (my house is insulated) and it actually made the house quite warm. I left one on overnight and it kept the house comfortable.
I also bought the "WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat" to operate these. They are supposed to allow you to control the temperature more accurately...though I have not used the Programmable Outlet Thermostats yet.WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat

Just like Grandpa's woodstove!
|
| Review Date: October 9, 2009 |

Just got this in the mail today. Very impressed so far. The heater seems to work well... warming up the main room in my apartment.
Best part is the soothing flame effect. Up close you can tell it's fake, but a few feet away and the optical illusion is spectacular. It's simple, but well executed. The burnt "arch" that you see in the photo is printed on the back panel where the flames are... and if you've ever seen a real airtight woodstove, like in Grandpa's woodshop, circa 1945, they all have that burn pattern on the glass. This trick makes the front glass look kind of frosty and thick and scorched... like the hot flames are being held in a vacuum sealed environment.
Just thought I'd give a thumbs up to a simple, yet brilliant, optical illusion. A great little heater so far.
I'm loving it. |
Best Little heater in Virginia.........................

| I purchased one of these little beauties for a friend in Virginia, this is the only heat she has on. It keeps the house at 70 degrees even if it goes down to 29-30 outside. She just loves this stove and so do her cats. I think the previous person should read the instructions or check the connections because this heats about 400 square feet for her. She loves the fact that the heat comes out from the bottom, heats the whole room from the bottom up. I researched a lot of heaters and this one fits the bill wonderfully. Thank You DeLonghi............ |

| I was looking for a good heater and appearance and found both with this product. I use it in my mobile home and it looks great, especially with the lites out. Very Realistic. The heat is fine, like all the new heaters, it's not too hot or dry. It's metal, easy to change the bulb and efficient. |

We bought this as a cheap alternative to having a gas stove installed in our home.
We wanted both the aesthetics of a fireplace with the warmth as well.
I always thought that the fake wood burning fireplaces wood, looked just that... fake.
This has chunks of something that looks just like raw coal. A light within flickers on a metal background inside giving the illusion of flame and glow within the coal material which you can arrange however you like.
As for heating 500 square feet of a rec room it works quite well, we love the fact that the top of the unit stays cool and it has a shut off installed if the unit should be left on and malfunctions causing it to overheat.
In addition it has a low setting where it produces no heat at all, just the light show if you will.
All in all a great product I would buy again in a heartbeat.

This heater has been a great purchase, especially considering the price. I like the soft gray color instead of the stark black that most stoves are painted, and the size is not too small or large. The warm air really blasts out of the stove when on high, so this unit has been very useful for heating. I liked the look of burning coals better than logs which is why I chose this unit, and that was right on--they are very realistic. The only negative is the bright, lighted background is not realistic at all. It is overly bright, and the arch of light is very defined, and there are strips of paper blowing in the light that look halloweeny. If I could find in a lower watt bulb, that may help to reduce the brightness and definition. Ultimately, no electric stove will fool anyone looking closely, so this one is as real looking as any and the heating power is second to none.
Also, shipping was amazingly fast. We live in massachusetts, and recieved this item about 2 days after we ordered it. |
Delonghi electric wood stove

| Solidly built. Quiet and throws good heat without raising the electric bill. Only drawback is that the "fire" is terribly fake. I also have a Dimplex and the flames in that appear 100% more realistic than the Delonghi. |

I live in one of those poorly insulated San Diego apartments where its always colder in the house than outside in the winter, and always warmer inside than outside in the summer. After the extreme chill (yeah its southern CA, I know) in December I decided to get a space heater, but didn't want some cheapo looking plastic-y one and saw this on an Amazon search. I immediately thought it would be a good fit in my place. I ended up buying it and I really like it. It takes a little while to heat up my living room, although its not very large, its just that I keep this in a certain spot in a corner, and that could have something to do with poor window insulation.
What I really like about it is that it doesn't look cheesy, that was my main concern in buying one. Everyone that has come over and seen it has commented on how cool it looks. My cat really likes to stare at it as well, but she's easily entertained. For the time being this has satisfied my desire for a fireplace, and warmed up my house a bit. It doesn't heat up any adjoining room though, I know one reviewer mentioned that. I have this placed in a small corner that it next to my bedroom door, but faces my living room. Maybe the unit I got isn't blowing out as much warm air as it should.
The unit is pretty light and easy to move around. The surrounding unit doesn't get hot, which is very nice, I don't want my cat to burn her face off or something. |
An okay heater/stove

I bought this because I wanted a larger stove heater. I already have a Dimplex Electralog--the compact version.
I have to say that although this one is bigger and way heavier than the Dimplex, it doesn't put out as much heat. I like that it has a thermostat, though.
I probably wouldn't buy this again, but also don't have any issues with it. The package it came in was pretty beat up, though. The styrofoam packaging kept the stove itself safe. |
Highly disappointed!

| When I ordered this fireplace, I liked the look of it and also felt good about the reviews. When I set it up, I was amazed that after 2 hours of heating on the highest setting that there was no noticeable warming of the room. After looking over the manual, I tried it again. I held my hand near the front and still felt barely any warmth at all. I don't feel that this fireplace could even heat a 4 by 4 bathroom. I'm not sure if mine was defective or not, but I'm sending it back. |
