Bought two of these last year and really like them. They are only 15" high (21" long) flat saucer feet for good stabliity, and no sharp metal edges for the kids to hit their heads on.
The Timing and temperature dials are easy to use. We used them last year when natural gas was so expensive. They did such a good job keeping the kids rooms at a consistant temperature at night that we plan to use them this year too. It worked out much better than using the house thermostat at night. |
Great Oil-filled Heater

This is the second Delonghi oil heater that I purchased through Amazon & I am completely satisfied with both of them. (I also purchased the Delonghi HM25E Dragon Ultimate Oil Filled Radiator Heater purchased in 2005, twice the cost, twice the heater.)
I like the size of this smaller one a little more -- it fits better into the small space where I am using it. We use it in a 10' x 10' main bathroom. The room is not insulated (85 year old home) and gets almost no heat from the home's central heating system (radiated water heat).
I have used it every day this winter and found that it is more than adequate for this room, even on the coldest winter days. The temperature recently has dropped to -5 F overnight (Chicago) and I have the heater set on high to turn on 60-90 minutes before I get up. The bathroom is always nice and toasty in the AM, even though the exterior wall is cold to the touch.
I was concerned about the safety of using an electric heater in the bathroom because of electric shock and fire risk. No problem on either account. I recommend using a GFCI electric outlet to reduce the risk of electric shock; also, the oil-filled radiator does not build up an excessive amount of heat (as long as you don't cover it - keep it open so heat can radiate away from it).
The heater has on/off switches (one for high, one for low) and a electro-mechanical timer. You set the current time with the dial, then set the timer to turn on & off as much as you wish during the day. You can be accurate to within about 15-30 minutes. The unit must stay plugged in for it to keep accurate time. Electronic LED timers (like on the Delonghi Dragon) can be set more accurately, but usually have a limited number of on/off automatic settings (Dragon has a limit of 2).
This heater also has a "thermostat" of sorts. It doesn't give a temperature, just gives a min/max range of 1-6 (my other one goes to 11). A 6 setting for about an hour is necessary for a toasty 10x10 bathroom at 0 degrees F, while setting at 3 for an hour is sufficient at 32 degrees.
Energy consumption - my electric bill increased only about $8-10/mo from fall to winter, a small price to pay.
The heater is short (about 16-18 inches)& very stable, fits under my pedestal sink between the sink & tub - perfect spot. It gets hot to the touch, but not so that you (or a child) might burn yourself. |
Quite pleased

We got one of these at the hardware store. Liked it enough to get another at Amazon (at about half the price).
Great for a small room. One keeps our 11' by 14' TV room cosy. Doesn't dry out the air like the fan heaters, and totally quiet.
My wife loves the timer on the one in the bathroom. Nice in the morning, pretty easy to set up.
Two minor gripes. The cord comes out at the control end (you never see it in the picture). Also, it gives off a bit of a smell for awhile while it's new. They do mention this in the instructions and it did go away, but it might worry you if you're not aware. |
Excellent Radiant Heater!

This compact unit takes up little space and heats up a fairly large room in a matter of hours. The temperature outside this morning was 29 degrees, but the room with this heater in it, was 69. As long as you keep the doors closed so that the heater works in a finite space, you'll see excellent results.
There was an acrid smell most of the first evening that it was used, I suppose from the oil inside being heated for the first time.
ADDENDUM November 18, 2008: This unit stopped dead yesterday. We live in a coastal area and don't have alot of cold days in the fall and spring months so it's not like this heater was really abused with overuse. Still, after less than 2 years - kaput with no other option than to add it to a landfill. Will not buy another one. |
As advertised, no problems so far

| We use this heater in a bathroom that can be extremely cold in the morning. The heater has worked flawlessly for the two months that we have had it, although there was a slight odor the first few times it was on (the instructions do mention this, so it's just an observation, not a criticism). We are considering buying another one for a bedroom due to the heater's small footprint and quiet operation. It is really nice to NOT have something making noise and forcibly blowing hot air in one's face. Radiant heat is the way to go! |

| My first Delonghi oil filled heater was brought 15 years ago. I use it every winter. It still works great. Quiet without sound during heating. Temperature sensor turns it off and on automatically when the temperature reachs the setting. Even the switch is quiet. I love it. |

| i've tried 3 different heaters for my home and this is definitely the best!.....one room is 23' by 18' with high ceilings ~~~ after running a day the room was warmed up greatly (just remember to close all doors and blinds in the room to contain heat).....it was too hot running on the high setting for another room that was 14' by 17'....i highly recommend this product! |

| I bought this space heater a month ago. It has been working very well. The thermostat and timer are both easy to use. I have a (very) small one bedroom apartment, and it heats the whole thing quite well. My apartment is only outfitted with electric heating boards and that was much less efficient and more expensive than this. |

| This is an excellent silent space heater. We used it to knock the chill off a large tiled bathroom (14 x 16). Do not expect instant heat, it uses convection. Highly reccommend. |
Does the job and then some!

| We purchased this item to "warm" a standard room for our 1 year old. We live in a somewhat drafty older home and our little guys room was dropping to 66 degrees or lower during the night with the furnace running. With all the controls we can maintain the temp at a comfortable 70 degrees without having to pay much attention to the unit or eating up tons of electricity. I'm very pleased with its performance over the two months that we have owned it. |
Great for Room Heating in Old Houses!

We bought three of these last year, and plan on another couple this year. Our old (1900) house had way to many radiators, but none in the little bath under the stairs. We had to choose between leaving all the doors between rooms open and wasting a lot of heat, and closing the doors and having a freezing bathroom and an overheated kitchen, living room, and family room. The massive radiator in the hallway sent all its heat upstairs (yet was controlled by the downstairs thermostat). The whole house was to warm or to cold.
So when we redesigned the downstairs we removed three radiators, and bought several of these heaters. Our gas heat bill went down significantly, and now we use these heaters in the bathroom, hallway, and an unheated attic room. The timer means they only operate in the morning & evening when we need them, so they have not driven up the electric bill that much. They also throw a nice even heat, and the combination of 96 timer switches (one for each 20 minutes of the day) and the thermostat keeps the heat just right and there when we need it.
My only criticism is that a digital electronic timer would be easier to use, and having weekday / weekend programs would be better in working with our 7 day schedule. But the benefits of this far outweigh these minor problems.
If you have a problem with uneven heat in your home, a few of these units carefully placed and programmed can pay for themselves in a year or less, and make your home more comfortable every day of the winter.

| We did alot of research into the different types and brands of oil filled heaters before we chose this one. Most of those we found were uninspiring in looks and features, and they were expensive to boot! They also had the downfall of radiating heat from all sides, something which makes placement of this type of heater sometimes difficult. When we found this little heater on Amazon, we knew we had finally found the answer to our heater dilemma! It is very small, but that's exactly what we needed for our spot. It doesn't act small, however! It heats the entire room with no problem (a bedroom of approx 200sf) even on the lowest setting. It did smell the first night, but we've had no problem with an odor since. What clinched our decision to get this model versus all the other models out there had to do with its vertical chimneys, which direct the heat up rather than out the sides. It really works! And I must say, Amazon shipped it to us super fast..we are very pleased with both the product and with Amazon! |

This heater works wonderfully, is a great compact size, and has some great features (three different power levels, a thermostat, and a timer).
I use it in my 15x15 Master bedroom, which is a cold-spot in my house. The timer feature is great! I just set it to come on about an hour before bedtime, and by bedtime it is warm and toasty. Then I turn down the power to medium and set the thermostat to maintain the temperature. The first few nights is got so hot that we had to throw off the covers and open the door, then I got the temperature down to a science and it has been wonderful. It is set to automatically turn off about a half hour after we get up.
The surface gets hot enough to give you a good burn so be careful not to touch. It also took several uses before the smelly off-gassing stopped,. Plug it in and turn it on and let it run in a garage or well-ventilated basement the first few uses. Once it stops stinking, it is a great little heater. |
Great Heater

I bought this for my bedroom which is roughly 20' x 12'. Previously I had a ceramic style heater which I could not run at night due to the fan noise. I asked a friend of mine who owned a similar heater and he suggested that I ensure whatever heater I purchased had a timer, which this one does.
I was worried that this heater might not have enough output to heat my bedroom, but I am pleased to say that this heater can heat up pretty much my whole upstairs (Note I am in NC, so it doesn't get that cold).
I can't think of any downsides and I am very happy with the purchase. |
Great for the bedroom

I've had this one for about 3 months now and must say that it works great. We turn ours on in our bedroom at night on just about high and so far we've only seen an increase of about $4 in our monthly power bill this winter. The last week or so with the temp. outside staying around 35 or so at night it keeps our larger sized master bedroom at about 75 degrees after it's been on for about an hour. It's not as powerful as the TRD0715T( which has 1500 watts' vs. the 0812T which has 1250) but honestly after about an hour I'm often waking up to turn the temp. down a few anyways on the warmer nights. On the nights this winter where we had about -5 degree weather leaving the unit on just about high kept the room at about 72 degree's even when we had the thermostat to the house turned down to about 60. It's great for rooms where you can close the door and leave it shut!
I've also seen several complaints about the unit getting hot....while yes it is a heater, you can still touch it. I've taken my hand several times and held it on the heater after it's been at high heat for about two hours and have been able to hold it for about 20 seconds before having to pull my hand away. While yes I'm sure it will scare a little one (we've got an 20 month year old in the room with us) and they will cry some in pain, I really don't think it would be enough to cause any marks on their skin. On that note however.....ours is tucked away in a corner and our eye's always are extra close on her whenever she's in that area. |
