We got this stove as a Christmas gift this year. My husband and I were both VERY surprised at how nice it actually looks. The fire effect is very realistic for an electric unit, far more convincing than any other brands we have seen; as we have several friends with electric fireplaces and stoves made by different companies besides this one. I had researched Dimplex brand fireplaces before, and everything they claim is true...no other brand electric fireplace (at least that I have seen) really comes close to the realism that they have come up with in their units. Of course nothing will ever beat the look of real logs burning, but this is still great looking nonetheless.

We use it in our 14x17 bedroom, and it warms the room up nicely, in fact TOO nicely, as we are usually sweating to death halfway through the night! We have an old, drafty Victorian house that has very little heat coming into the room at all, and this little guy does a great job. We are planning on getting a plug-in thermostat to go with it. In fact, that is my only complaint. I wish it had a built-in thermostat so you could set a temperature for the room. Because if you use a plug-in thermostat it will turn the entire unit off, including the flame effect, which I actually really like to sit and enjoy, whether the heat is on or not.

I read another review about this stove that the door does not open. Hmmm, that's interesting, because ours does open. When I showed it to my mother and opened the door for her, she was convinced enough that she put her hands in front of the "flames" to feel the warmth.

We like the stove so much we ordered black flue pipe and a collar so that it looks like it's attached to the chimney that runs up the one wall of the room. We are also building a tile hearth board for it to sit on. If you need extra heat in a room, but want something that looks nice at the same time, this little stove really does the trick!

I purchased this product for its nice looks at first ...then when i used it ,i couldn't believe how fast and hot this item worked to heat my bedroom 14 x 16 ...I have to get up in the middle of the night and turn it off ...also I use a ceiling fan to circulate the heat as well ...I have 5 people ,5 electric stoves in my home as a main source of heat ..my bill with other electric appliances , tv 's ,washer ,dryer and lights was only $ 115.00 this month ....I have oil heat but keep my regular thermostat on 58 due to over $3.30 a gallon for oil ...This product works better and even saves more money on electric then even those infrared or those Amish heaters that are advertised lately using 12 cents an hour to heat your home ...Beware of those ...I've tried them also .....a lot higher bills then they stated ...Dimplex is the way to go ...its quiet ,efficient, and looks great ..5 stars from me ...=0) Happy Glowing......
A Great Little Heater!

With some reservations, I bought this small Dimplex CS1205 heater for my bedroom because of some cold air coming in both my windows (when winds blow). I was very happy to know that this heater was like having a fireplace in my room instead of a 'little heater', as I described it to be. I would recommend this compact stove to anyone who was looking for beautiful flowing heat and the looks of a fireplace (with the incredibly real looking fire in the front). One reviewer made a suggestion of replacing the 60 watt bulb (contained in the unit) with a 7 watt night light, which I did, and got the same real effect of a fireplace - and less electricity. All in all, this was definitely not the boring, small heater I had visions of before I bought it.
Great for the price !

We purchased this stove for our cool and drafty San Francisco living room (15' x 15'). I can't imagine a nicer room heater for the price. The stove is stylish, and the 3D flames almost look real ! Granted, this is not a real wood fireplace, but it is a great alternative. I like that you can turn on the flames without the heat. The heat is warm enough for the room. I consider this one of our favorite finds for the year !
This is a great little heater!

I bought this little heater for my nutritional therapy office for the ambience, and I have to say it truly fits the bill. It is compact, but not itty bitty, and it looks great. It is an excellent esthetic addition to the office and doesn't look like a heater at all.
Excellent Heater

I used this little heater to warm a 10' X 12' room in New England last winter and it worked great. This was the only heat source in the room and even my infant and toddler grandchildren were comfortable. The "flames" look very realistic and add a warm glow to the room. This a fan-forced heater is much more efficient than the oil-filled heaters I used previously (more heat output for the same cost in electricity). It has three settings: high heat, low heat, and flame only. I have enjoyed my safe, durable, inexpensive and decorative Dimplex stove for over a year and highly recommend it.
Loving It

I've owned it for a week and anxiously awaited a cold morning to try it out which was today. When I first had it set up I flipped the flames-only switch and went around with a dumb grin on my face for the rest of the evening over how realistic they looked. It's like a toy for grownups - pure fun!! I immediately knew I needed to get to the Dollar General store to buy one of the small oval braided rugs that I'd been eying. I bought one and placed it on the floor in front of my stove to complete the scene. This morning the living area of my home was around 60 degrees so I put the flames on and then the low heat on and things began to feel better within about ten minutes. I sipped my tea seated on my padded click-clack floor chair with my legs stretched out towards the stove and basked in the silent gentle flow of warm air. I listened to NPR and stared at the flames and totally enjoyed myself. I saw one of these little stoves in a home improvement store about ten years ago and I was fascinated by it as were two other customers standing nearby. Now I own one and am delighted with it. I know I could have bought a good space heater for less but the pleasure that this heater gives me is well worth the extra dollars spent.
CS1205 Fireplace heater

It is much more than I had expected for the low cost. You can use the fireplace without producing any heat or use one of the 2 heat settings. There is a fan to blow the heat. The heater is all under the unit blowing heat straight out warming the floor area and it rises heating the room. It is so quiet. The flames look real along with the flickering embers. As the heater works you could sit a child on top and they would not get burned. The top, sides and back actually have a cool feeling and are not one bit warm. If I would had known this was such a good product I would had spent more money for one with the remote control and opening door. There is no heat to the flame that extends to the inside of the top. What a wonderful unit.
Ambience Plus

I love this little heater! It turned out to be much nicer than
I expected. I loved it so much I immediately bought the more expensive
model to place on the other end of my 60-ft mobile home which has an
add-on room at one end. This one heats up the add-on room very quickly
and brings the overall temp up 2 degrees within minutes reducing the need
to use my fuel-oil heater. This smaller unit has 2 heat settings and standing about 2 feet in front of the heater, you can feel the warmth
much more than standing closer to it. For a small space, this is a great
heater and the flames are so realistic you will feel warmer just with the ambience it creates!
Great little Heater

Great little heater, very realistic flames and puts out a LOT of heat. The only improvement would be the addition of the a thermostat.

i've had this for a couple of weeks and i love it! it is small but attractive. the heat works quietly and nicely. i find myself leaving the flames on all the time even without the heat. i love not having to worry about the kids burning themselves. i had an electric fireplace growing up and they have come a long way in how realistic the flames and embers look. i want a larger one with a mantle now.
Well worth the money spent

I bought this on sale for $116 with free shipping from Amazon, now it's $130. I replaced the 60 watt bulb with a night light LED replacement, it's current "barely there" flame reminds me of my coal fireplace in England. I also have a 4 watt and a 7 watt night light replacement so I can vary the "flame effect" to my mood. As for heating, it has no comparison. I have a 500 sq ft area to heat- it was 20 degrees and windy outside and 74 degrees inside. Truly worth the money. A definate good buy. And it's lightweight so I can move it from room to room with virtually no effort. My cats absolutely love lying on their rug in the warm air flow.
This product meets all expectations!!

Reviewer: A Moy,
We heat our house with propane fireplace inserts, one each upstairs and downstairs. However, we wanted additional heaters for our back bedrooms during those near-zero or sub-zero winter days and nights, heaters that would be economical and add visual warmth to those rooms. The Dimplex CS1205 is perfect. What is really interesting is to see the household pets lying in front of these heaters just like they do in front of the fireplaces. And, the fire simulation is remarkable --- could not ask for better. We also purchased the WIN100 thermostats to use with these heaters thanks to the review written by another Dimplex owner. These thermostats are a good match, and they are affordable when purchased through Amazon.
A Great Alternative

This item is a great alternative to messy fireplace candles in a faux insert. I measured my fireplace insert and decided to go with this little stove-type instead of just the plain electric logs. This fit in beautifully and adds such ambience to the fireplace and room. I highly recommend it. The low and high heat feature is a bonus, especially if your furnace is on the fritz !!!!

I puchased two of these firplaces for my duplex apartments in Florida. The tenants are delighted. They rave about the comforts during our cold winter. For me, the cost of electricity has been reduced average $70 per month. I am pleased that I purchased them. Joan in Florida
